We are a group of neighbors and friends who came together when we heard that the CJK Milling Company and Union Milling Contractors were trying to reopen, expand and operate a cyanide leaching facility near our homes. 

During conversations about our health, economy, and the environment, we quickly realized that the opening of the Leadville Mill would pose serious threats, not only to our neighborhoods but to the entirety of Leadville, Lake County and beyond.  We formed CC4LC to organize and advocate for responsible economic and industrial development  and smart environmental stewardship throughout Leadville and Lake County. 

CC4LC stands for

• Development: Promote responsible economic and industrial development 

• Stewardship:  Advance innovative and smart environmental stewardship

• Outdoor Industry: Sustain and grow a world-class outdoor recreation industry

• Heritage: Respect and preserve our community’s mining heritage

• Accountability: Advocate for strong governmental accountability measures for balancing environmental and development aspirations.

Lake County citizens need to play an active role in protecting what is best about our community.
